Jade Earrings

I bought these before a beach holiday and made the decision to just leave them in for the whole trip. Salt water every day, sunscreen constantly, rinsing off in the outdoor shower each evening. The green stones came home just as vivid and the gold ovals around them have not spotted or gone cloudy anywhere. Even the posts and backs look brand new, which is usually where water damage shows up first for me. They have been my default earrings ever since and water simply does not touch them.

I have a habit of buying green stone earrings and being disappointed within a month when the metal goes dark around the setting. These have been in near constant rotation since late February and there is not a speck of darkening anywhere. Not on the posts, not behind the ovals, not in the seam where stone meets gold. I wear perfume and hairspray daily and neither has left a mark. My hairdresser actually asked where I got them because she assumed they were fine jewelry. Five months of hard wear and they still look brand new.

I have reactive lobes that turn red and sore after a few hours in most earrings, so I usually go bare at work. These have been in through twelve-hour shifts with no soreness, no itching, and no crusty reaction at the piercing. I have worn them for four months straight, sweating through summer, and my ears have stayed completely happy. Even sleeping in them accidentally caused no irritation the next day. Finding a stone earring my skin tolerates has been genuinely difficult until now.

In the photos the green looks brighter and more translucent than it is in person. Mine are a darker, moodier shade, which I have grown to like more. Just not quite what the images promised.

Weights and cardio five days a week with these in. Sweat has not dulled the finish or clouded the stones one bit.

Really beautiful earrings and the gold frame is lovely. The green is noticeably darker in person than on screen — I'd expected a brighter jade and got something closer to forest.
