Gaia Ring

I have a documented nickel allergy and my ring finger has broken out from almost every fashion ring I have tried, including a few expensive ones. My dermatologist basically told me to give up and stick to solid gold, which I cannot afford. I took a chance on this because it is stainless steel underneath and there is no nickel touching my skin. It has now been on my hand for over four months, through summer heat, sweaty runs, and long shifts where my hands are washed constantly. Not a single bump, no itching, no red ring underneath when I take it off. For the first time I own a gold ring I can actually wear without planning a recovery day afterward.

I ordered two of these in early spring, wore one constantly and left the second one in the box as a backup. Last week I finally took the spare out to compare them side by side under the kitchen light. I genuinely could not tell which was which, even holding them at an angle to check the deepest part of the ribbing. The worn one has been through sunscreen, saltwater, hand sanitizer at work, and about a hundred showers. Not one bit of the gold has thinned or gone brassy at the edges. That comparison sold me on buying a third for my sister.

I bought this in March and it has been in chlorinated water more times than I can count. We have a pool at the apartment complex and I swim laps four mornings a week, always with this on. It has also been through the hot tub, the outdoor shower, and two lake weekends in June. I honestly expected the color to wash out of the grooves first because that is where every other ring of mine gave up. Instead the whole band still has the same even warm tone across every ridge. I rinse it with fresh water afterward out of habit but I am no longer convinced it even needs it.

The look is exactly what I wanted and the finish is beautiful in every light. I am between sizes though, so half sizes would have been ideal for me.

I have short unpolished nails and this makes my hand look put together with zero other effort. The grooves give it presence without shouting. It is the only ring I reach for on rushed mornings.

The ring itself is easy to wear all day and never bothers my finger. It just took longer than I expected to reach me.
