Francesca Earrings

I bought two pairs on purpose, one to wear and one to keep sealed, because I have been burned by plated earrings enough times to want a real test. The wearing pair has been in my ears nearly every day since March, through showers, hairspray, dry shampoo, perfume, and a lot of humidity. Last week I finally opened the sealed pair and set them side by side on a white plate under daylight. They are the same color and the same brightness with no difference at the knot or on the posts. I did not need a magnifying glass to tell, and I could not find a single hint of pink or brass on the worn pair. That is the first time a plated earring has passed that test for me.

These went with me to Florida for two weeks and never came out of my ears once. Ocean every day, hotel pool every afternoon, plus the rinse shower on the way back to the room. I also wore them in the resort steam room twice without thinking about it. My previous doorknockers turned dull and slightly pink after one beach trip, which is why I brought a cheap backup pair on this one. I never opened the backup. Both knots still have that heavy warm gold shine, even in the tight spots where the two loops interlock.

I have had pierced ears for twenty years and have spent most of them unable to wear anything but tiny titanium studs. Anything else swells my lobes within hours and takes days to settle down, and statement earrings were completely off the table. My sister talked me into trying these because the posts are surgical steel with no nickel. I wore them for a full workday as a test and then simply forgot to take them out for three days. Nothing happened, no swelling, no itch, no crusting, and that has been the pattern for four months now. Being able to wear a chunky knot earring at forty three is not something I expected from a stainless piece.

Wonderful to wear and my ears stay happy in them. The wait for delivery was longer than I would have liked.

The finish and the twist detail are genuinely lovely and I get compliments constantly. They are a fair bit larger on my ear than I judged from the listing photos, so plan for a real statement.

They are restrained enough for a nine o'clock meeting and interesting enough for a seven o'clock table. I have gone straight from one to the other without touching my ears. That is the whole appeal.
