Cesar Cuff

I wore this every day of a fortnight in Croatia and never once took it off, swimming in the Adriatic each morning and showering in it after. A wide flat cuff traps water underneath against your wrist for ages, which is exactly why I expected the inside face to come back corroded and dull. It did not happen. Both surfaces are still the same bright even gold, with no white salt marks, no roughness and no pale patches anywhere near the open ends. It went through sunscreen and sweat on top of all that. A rinse under the tap each night was the entire care routine.

The hidden inner face of a wide cuff is where I have always been let down before, because that surface sits in sweat all day and never gets wiped, so it goes grey and blotchy long before the outside does. On my last cuff it was noticeably discolored inside three months while the front still looked fine. I have worn this one nearly every day since February through the gym, summer heat and plenty of long days. I turned it over under a lamp last week specifically to inspect that face. It is identical in color and brightness to the outside with no shadowing, no spotting and no dullness whatsoever.

With a nickel allergy the surface area is everything, and this cuff covers more of my wrist than any other piece of jewelry I own. Something this wide has always meant a red itching band within two or three hours, followed by a rash that takes the better part of a week to fade. I bought it anyway because I loved the look and fully expected to return it. It has now been on my wrist regularly since February, including through workouts and warm days when it stays damp underneath for hours. There has not been a single reaction, no redness and no itch at any point. I wore it for a full weekend without removing it just to be certain.

After daily wear it needed a small squeeze back into shape. Easy fix and the comfort is still great.

Lotion smears all over the wide face every time I moisturize. That leaves a permanent cloudy residue on most plated jewelry. This buffs back to clear with a sleeve.

Being so polished it does pick up fingerprints and the odd fine scuff from daily wear. A polish cloth handles most of it. Still a striking piece and I wear it constantly.
