Aurea Ring

The part of a gold ring that always gives it away for me is the inside of the band, where it sits against skin all day and never gets wiped. That is exactly where my old rings turn brown and start leaving a green shadow on my finger. I have worn this one daily since late February through a Texas spring, which means sunscreen, bug spray, sweat and a lot of iced coffee condensation. I checked the inside of the band under the bathroom light last week fully expecting the usual, and it is still the same warm gold as the dome. No dark edges, no discoloration where the band meets the dome, nothing on my skin. I finally stopped bracing for the day it goes dull.

I ordered the US 7 back in February and I have genuinely not taken it off since. It has been through daily showers, hot dish water with degreaser, a week in Destin where I swam in the Gulf every single morning, and probably a hundred handwashings at the clinic where I work. The dome still has that same mirror finish it had in the box, no cloudiness, no water spots, no dull patch on the underside where my finger sweats. I rinse it under the tap after the beach out of habit, but honestly I don't think it needs it. My last plated dome ring from a mall kiosk went pink in about three weeks. This one is on month three and reads brand new.

I react to almost everything with nickel in it, and rings are the worst because the band is pressed against skin nonstop. Anything cheap gives me a red itchy ring within a day and a raw patch by day three. I wore this one for four hours the first day just to test it, then overnight, then never bothered taking it off. Three weeks in there is no redness at all, not even the faint pink line I usually get. I have washed my hands with it on, slept in it, and worked out in it, and the skin underneath looks exactly like the skin next to it. For anyone else with a stainless-only jewelry box, this one is safe.

On my screen this looked like a cooler, brighter yellow, and in person it is a deeper warm gold. I actually prefer the real thing but wanted to mention it for anyone matching to other jewelry. Everything else about it has been lovely.

Two days with my hands on a steering wheel and it never dug in anywhere. That's the real test for me. It's become the ring I grab without thinking.

Twelve hour shifts, constant washing, gloves on and off all night. It came through a full rotation without dulling or catching on anything. I did not expect that from a polished dome.
